Police Captain-Northfield, MN
Northfield, (population 19,413) is seeking qualified individuals for a Police Captain position. Salary range for 2008 is $67,815 to $84,769 (hiring range $67,815 to $72,901) plus excellent benefits. Position reports to the police chief and is responsible for management and development of all functions of a division of the police department, including but not limited to: directing day-to-day operations; assisting with budget preparation; organizational planning; providing communications to the chief, outside agencies, and others; directing officer training; establishing performance levels; conducting performance reviews; develop policies and procedures that ensure effective and efficient achievement of organizational goals and objectives. In the absence of the chief, a captain may be assigned to assume the chief’s duties. Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, eight or more years of continuous experience as a law enforcement officer with an uncompromised record of increasing responsibility and achievements and three years at a rank of sergeant or above or any combination of education and/or experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
