The Clarinda Police Dept;E-911 Communications Center is currently seeking applicants to fill a part time E-911 telecommunication/dispatcher position. Applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to stay calm and think independently in various critical situations. At minimum, applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED, pass a thorough background investigation, have no felony convictions, and must speak, write and understand the English language, and be a United States Citizen. Upon hire, the applicant must be able to attend a 40 hr. basic course of instruction for telecommunications at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Applicants must be willing to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. The position will pay an hourly wage of $11.43 upon successful completion of training and a probationary employment period of one year.
